- Open the photoshop 6.
- Open the image. You should see that the foreground (object) is underexposed and sky exposure is just nice.

- Select the Magic Wand Tool

- Type in the tolerance value, e.g. 32. You can use any value but make sure the selection does not overlap the object.
- Use the Magic Wand Tool to click on the background
- If the background is not completely selected, hold down the "Shift" Key (you will see the plus sign) and use the magic wand tool to select the unselected portion in the background
- Once you have finished the selection , you should see the background is totally selected

- Next is to inverse the selection by clicking on Select > Inverse

- You should see the foreground is selected

- Next is go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Curves...

- Type in any name and click on OK button.

- Drag the curve to adjust the exposure of the exposure.

- You should see a new adjustment layer is created.

- You have successfully balanced the exposure between the foreground and background.
